By Gonçalo Raposo Carriço, President-elect of the Section Political Committee of the PSD Brussels-Belgium

The recent internal elections of the Social Democratic Party in Brussels-Belgium represent more than just a moment of renewal of the governing bodies; are a reflection of the current dynamism and commitment assumed by our section with Portuguese communities abroad and with the future of Portugal and the European Union.

The re-election of the previous directorate, now with a renewed and strongly rejuvenated list, reinforces the sign of a clear commitment to the continuity of a project that combines experience and youth. Among the new elected are several young people who, in addition to enthusiasm, bring a critical vision and renewed energy to our structure. It is with this balance that we aim to respond better to the unique challenges of a large, integrated and active community at the heart of Europe.

The PSD Brussels-Belgium has sought to be a bridge between the reality of the Portuguese across borders and the construction of solutions for their needs. We recently managed to create the first section of the Social Democratic Youth outside Portugal, fostering the participation of young emigrants and underlining their importance in our collective project. We have also been an active part in the electoral processes, proud to have contributed decisively to recovering the MEP from the circle of Europe in the last legislative elections, an essential voice for communities in Parliament.

Looking to the future implies responsibility, strategic vision and building on what unites us: the service to communities and emigrants, the contribution to the development of Portugal and the strengthening of our country's active role in the European Union. We are aware of the challenges ahead, be they new migration dynamics, the integration of communities, the defence of a Europe of solidarity or the growing role of youth in party and political life.

As President-elect of the Section Political Commission of the PSD Brussels-Belgium, I reaffirm the commitment of this leadership to continue this path, listening to the militants, involving the new generations and actively collaborating so that our communities are even more represented, respected and participants in the future of our democracy.

We invite all those who share these values to join us so that together we can do more and better for Portugal and our diaspora.
